Community Concerts

The FSSO Community Concerts attract audiences and/or showcase artists from previously disadvantaged communities and include concerts with a strong educational focus.

These concerts often take place in under-served areas and offer a platform to musicians from those areas. In the past, Community Concerts have taken place at Thaba Nchu, Ladybrand, Botshabelo, Welkom and Kimberley.

Because of our rich choral tradition, Community Concerts often involve choirs. Furthermore, the FSSO has presented a number of benefit concerts for community NGOs, such as Lebone House, Boikhuco Old Age Home and the NG Kerk, Pellisier.

FSSO education concerts include Children’s concerts, school concerts, and an annual joint FSSO and Free State Youth Orchestra concert.
